Who Are We

Congratulations on your growing family!

We’re so glad you’re here because that can only mean one thing-you want the most healthy, empowering & fulfilling pregnancy, birth & recovery for both you & your baby.

This time can be exciting but also overwhelming but it doesn’t have to be. There is so much to learn & navigate, especially as a woman of color in a society where quality, compassionate & culturally matched care is often missing from mainstream maternal care.

That’s why we’re here as Doulas. At Our Mothers’ Light Birth & Baby Village, we nurture & gently guide you through your pregnancy, birth & postpartum recovery by providing non-judgemental support that achieves a balance between evidence-based research and our indigenous African ancestral cultural traditions, making sure you have the best birth possible whilst in our village. Every step of the way you will be guided by your personal expert doulas as you give birth and during your postpartum recovery period.

We are happy to serve ALL families in Chicago and the South and Western Suburbs and look forward to getting to know yours.

Our Services

  • As a birth doula, I will provide emotional, physical, and informational support to moms, stemming from an indigenous African perspective, before, during, and after childbirth.

  • The Postpartum support I provide involves assisting parents in adapting to parenthood, offering emotional support, practical guidance, and nurturing care during the weeks and months following childbirth, all infused with knowledge and practice from traditional Africa.

  • Traditional African belly binding is a cultural practice involving the use of cloth or wraps to tightly bind a postpartum mom’s abdomen, providing support, promoting healing, and shapi the body after childbirth.
